Salingpusa Youth Orchestra Auditions
Learning how to play a musical instrument is a good life skill but joining an orchestra will change your life. It will raise your standard of musicianship and teach you discipline, patience, teamwork and goal focus.
Do you want to join a youth orchestra? This is your chance!
We are seeking dedicated students aged 10 to 17 who can read music and perform at a minimum, Level 2 proficiency* on any of the following instruments.
- Violin
- Viola
- Cello
- String Bass
- Flute
- Oboe
- Clarinet
- Alto Saxophone
- Tenor Saxophone
- Bassoon
- French Horn
- Trumpet
- Trombone
- Euphonium
- Tuba
- Timpani
- Snare Drum
- Marimba / Xylophone
- Drum Set
Successful candidates will be accepted into the Salingpusa Youth Orchestra and will receive free orchestral training throughout the 2026-2027 season. The season will culminate in a gala concert at The Grand YYC in the summer of 2027.

Audition Requirements
Applicants are required to prepare the following:
- Two contrasting solo pieces: One slow selection, One fast selection
- Performances of: Concert B-flat Major, Chromatic Scale
- Applicants must also be prepared for a sight-reading assessment during the audition.
What to Bring
- Your own instrument
- Two (2) copies of your audition music

Rehearsal Schedule
Rehearsals will take place Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at The Grand YYC

*Minimum Level 2 proficiency means the applicant should have basic to intermediate playing skills, be able to read music independently, perform scales, and play simple to intermediate repertoire with confidence.
